AMP Events
Alvin Methodist Preschool has been serving families in Alvin and surrounding areas for over 30 years. We are a faith-based, academic-focused preschool for students 18 months-5 years old.
At AMP we are setting a higher standard for early education and utilizing every opportunity to shape the character of our students. Our goal is to start building the framework that will cultivate leaders who will have a direct impact on our community. We show compassion, inspire creativity along with individuality, and lay the cornerstones for our future generation’s foundation in faith.
PROGRAMS
We offer a variety of programs ranging from 2-5days with the option of an after-school care program.
Programs offered:
2 Day M/W or T/TH
4 Day M-TH
5 Day M-F (3 Yrs. +)
Hours of Operation M-F 9am-2pm (Drop off starts at 8:45am, Pick up begins at 1:45pm)
Stay and Play M-TH 2pm-4pm (additional fee). We follow the Alvin ISD school calendar for holidays, breaks and school closures, with the exception of our start and end dates.
CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
Our preschool curriculum is designed to grow with your child. What children learn at age two is built upon at age three, and strengthened even more by age four so by the time they leave us, they feel ready for kindergarten.
We follow Texas early learning standards (from the Texas Education Agency) and use trusted resources like Intelli-Little Learners: Big Minds – Texas Edition to guide what we teach, how we teach it, and when children are ready for the next step.
Visit our programs page for a more details.
CLASSES
All class placements are based on your student’s age as of September 1st of the current school year. Students will advance to the next age group at the beginning of each year as they would in elementary school.
Every class room has a dedicated teacher. We offer limited enrollment to ensure a low Student/Teacher ratio.
Ratios – Students:Teacher
18month classes – 6:2
Two-year-old classes – 8:2
Three-year-old classes – range from 7-9:1
Four-year-old classes – range from 9-11:1
In addition to curriculum taught in the classroom, each student will enjoy Chapel, Music, PE and playground time every day.
TEACHERS AND STAFF
At AMP we conduct a complete criminal background check including state fingerprinting on all staff members. All of our teachers are required to participate in annual training designed specifically for Early Childhood Education. All staff members are required to complete Child Safety Training, maintain pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification and follow all State Minimum Standards for Child Care Licensing set forth by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
