LOL- Love Out Loud
LOL hosts an annual food drive benefiting the Alvin Food Pantry. They also have an item of the month that is collected through-out the year and taken to the Food Pantry monthly. LOL is also responsible for coordinating the annual Thanksgiving and Christmas Meal assistance program, which serves a meal for around 50 families from the Alvin Area. For more information, please contact Pam Chaffin by calling the church at 281-331-3482
Meals on Wheels
This mission provides meals to shut-ins around the Alvin area. Contact Barbara McGaffey by calling 281-331-3482 and leaving her a message at the church office.
Living Water International
Living Water is an organization that teaches people how to build and fix water pumps in areas that need clean running water. There is opportunity for international travel or local travel to learn about building the wells. Contact Pat Mayberry for more information by leaving a message at the church office 281-331-3482. http://water.cc/
Brazos Valley P.E.T Project
The Personal Energy Transportation (PET) Project seeks to reflect the love of Jesus Christ by bringing mobility and dignity to those in developing countries who are unable to walk. Groups from Alvin FUMC go to Bryan, Texas to help build the PET carts and provide financial assistance to the project. http://petbrazosvalley.org/
FUMC hosts two annual mission trips to the Albergue, El Elohe children’s shelter in Galeana, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. American Christians built it to provide food, shelter, and a Godly environment for children needing a place to live while getting an education. There are now children ages 10 to 17 attending school here. Mission team members pack their vans full of badly needed household, school and other essential supplies. They work on continuing building needs, enjoy hosting mission programs for local children and adults, and make remote village visits. Another mission team travels annually to the Jamaica Deaf Village, where they provide sign-language activities with the young residents as well as painting and building help with ongoing construction projects. Both Mission teams always welcome new members. If you’re interested in participating, leave a message for Jennifer Mercer at the church office, 281-331-3482 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
