Each of the colors that decorate the worship space have a season, just like the four weather seasons (except here along the gulf coast where we just have calendars with varying degrees of warm). Green is a time of growth and is visible much of the year. White symbolizes purity and divinity and is out communion Sundays, Christmas and Easter Seasons. Blue, a royal color, is used in our church during Advent, the time before Christmas where we prepare our hearts to receive the gift of Jesus. Purple, another royal color, is used during the season of Lent which preceeds Easter (celebration of Christ's resurrection). The season of Lent is a time spent reflecting on those things in our lives that are stumbling blocks in allowing Jesus to be Lord of our lives. Red is used on Pentecost Sunday and all "special" occasion Sundays and is symbolic of the Holy Spirit coming to us as a tongue of fire to keep our hearts "burning" with a desire to be in relationship with God.

Who Can Take Holy Communion?
The sacrament of Holy Communion is a means of grace, whereby we draw close to God through Christ Jesus by remembering the last supper Jesus had with his followers before going to the cross. In Communion we believe that Christ is with us and in the elements of communion, but they are symbols of body and blood of Christ. All believers are welcomed to the Lord's table and even children are allowed to take communion since Christ himself said, "do not hinder the children to come to me." If someone who has not professed Jesus as their savior takes communion it is on the understanding that this person will make their profession soon there after since in it we are claiming the death of Christ as our death to the wages of sin. If you have questions, email one of our pastors.

Join us Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM for Fusion; our alternative worship service for students. Worship is led by our student worship band, On the Upside and the message is brought by Roger Stafford, director of student ministries. It's an informal, relational and high energy service designed to bring us closer to God and closer to each other. This ain't your gramma's worship time.
